Whole/half tone and accidentals

Used to indicate silence or pause in music. It is a symbol similar in shape to a note but without a note head, usually a small hollow rectangle or a vertical thin line. The function of a rest is to instruct the performer to stop playing or remain silent at that position without making any sound.

A whole tone and two half tones are at the same distance.

A temporary rise and fall sign is a symbol used to raise or lower the pitch of a note.
